Open Events
We recognise that the transition to secondary school is a big step and we are keen to continue to help families make informed choices about their children’s future education. We encourage everyone to watch our Creating Futures videos on Joining Us. Please read below for information regarding the admissions process.
Autumn Open Events 2023
In Autumn 2023 we are holding two Open Mornings and an Open Evening. These events are open to everyone and do not require pre-booking.
OPEN MORNINGS on Tuesday 19 September 2023 and Monday 2 October 2023
9.15am – 11.00am (arrival between 9.10am and 9.30am)
Richard Clutterbuck, Headteacher, looks forward to welcoming parents and prospective pupils to the School’s Open Mornings. He will be joined by key members of the school’s leadership team. While the school will be operating as normal, there will be opportunities for you to tour the school in the company of existing pupils who will not only act as guides but will also reflect on their experiences and learning at the school. Our tours will begin promptly between 9.15am and 9.30am from the Main Hall as visitors arrive. You will see the school in action and learn how we support pupils to be safe, happy and successful through our values of trust, kindness and determination. You will be able to engage in further discussion with staff and pupils. Once your guided tour has been completed, your pupil guide will take you back to the rear of the school where members of the school’s leadership team and other staff will be on hand at our Information Point next to the car park to respond to any questions you may have regarding the transition to and learning at Deer Park. There will be no formal presentation during the Open Mornings and all visitors will be off site by 11.00am.
OPEN EVENING 'Festival of Learning' on Wednesday 27 September 2023
5.30pm – 8.00pm (arrival between 5.30pm and 6.45pm)
Cirencester Deer Park School’s ‘Festival of Learning’ Open Evening provides a further exciting opportunity for prospective pupils and their parents to visit the school together. During the evening you will be invited to tour the school, engage in ‘hands on’ and immersive family learning and participate in extra-curricular activities. You will be able to talk to our Heads of Faculty, subject teachers and support staff to learn more about our curriculum, the challenges and support available. In 3 repeat presentations during the evening at 5.40pm, 6.20pm and 7.00pm in the Main Hall, Headteacher Richard Clutterbuck and his team, including current pupils, will present their vision for learning at the school and share Deer Park’s commitment to ‘being the best we can be, every day’. Refreshments will be provided by The Friends of Cirencester Deer Park School in the school’s Atrium.
Year 5 Open Mornings 2024
We hold Open Mornings specifically for Year 5 pupils and parents in June/July. Attendance at these events must be booked in advance by completion and return of a reply slip. Check back here closer to the time for more details.
Explore our website
To further inform your planning and decision making, we encourage you to explore our website, and to watch our Creating Futures videos, filmed in 2020, which will help give you an overall picture of life at Deer Park. The Latest News highlights many of our pupils’ experiences and what we have been able to achieve together before, during and after lockdown. We are immensely proud of the commitment of our staff, our rich and diverse provision and our pupils’ achievements.
Talk with others
We also encourage you to talk to people in the local community who are already connected with the school as parents, pupils, members of our local governing body or staff, who can provide first-hand experience of all that Deer Park can offer. We have been inundated with positive feedback and praise for our provision for our pupils during lockdown, from both an educational and pastoral perspective, as well as for the plans we have put in place to ensure their safe return to school.
Admissions
We recognise that not everyone will want to visit Cirencester Deer Park School in person in the Autumn Term, especially if they are already familiar with the school through older siblings. Therefore, we will ensure you will be able to find information about joining our school on our Admissions page.
We encourage parents to keep in contact with us and should you have any questions regarding admissions and the transition to Deer Park, please do not hesitate to contact Allison Boucher, our Admissions’ Secretary. She is able to arrange a personalised tour of the school throughout the year on request and can be contacted by phone on 01285 646558 or by email. |
