Celebrating Sport

Celebrating resilience and success

As a school, we expound 4Rs: Resilience, Reciprocity, Reflectiveness and Resourcefulness.   Have you heard about Jamie McDonald aka Adventureman? Sharing the example of his Resilience made a great start to our PE Faculty Celebration Assemblies this term.

At the end of March 2019, Jamie finished his epic 5,500 mile, 210 marathon coast-to-coast fundraising solo run across the United States, ending in Gloucester, Massachusetts, USA. Just one month later, starting at 1pm, on Monday 29 April, he will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for ‘the greatest distance covered on a treadmill within one week’, in his hometown of Gloucester, UK.  This upcoming 7 day, 500+ mile, non-stop treadmill run will raise funds for the Superhero Foundation, which supports UK and US children’s hospitals and other sick kids around the world.
