Enrichment Week 2024 Launch

Launch of Enrichment Week 2024

Our Enrichment Week is a key part of our promise to deliver "more than a visible curriculum and challenge all pupils to achieve more than they first think is possible". As well as being great fun, the trips and activities have educational purposes, and provide opportunities for pupils to challenge themselves in ways they might not have thought of, from overcoming the fear of heights to staying away from home for the first time. Enrichment Week also gives pupils the chance to meet and make new friends, whilst building relationships with teachers and staff in another context.

Enrichment Week 2024 will take place during the week commencing Monday 1 July 2024. All pupils will be off timetable and learning new skills, experiencing new situations and developing resilience, independence and confidence.

All pupils in Year 7 will be taking part in our 'Aim for the Stars' programme, with activities chosen to help develop team building and communication skills and to give individuals a challenge.

Pupils in Year 8 and Year 9 have a choice of activities to suit a variety of interests, based either at school, elsewhere in the UK or in Europe.

Year 10 will be on Work Experience during the first week of July 2024 and, if they haven't already, should be sorting out their placement.

YEAR 7, what you need to do:

  1. All Year 7 pupils will take part in 'Aim for the Stars' activities, which have been selected to give pupils the opportunity to develop team building and communication skills as well as provide a personal challenge with curriculum links. Many of the activities take place off the school site. Pupils will spend the week with their tutor group, and where possible their tutor. Each tutor group will do all of the activities. More detailed information will be sent home closer to the time.

  2. A £26 deposit is required by Friday 8 December 2023, payable via MyChildAtSchool.

YEAR 8 and YEAR 9, what you need to do:

  1. Make first, second and third choices. Many activities have limited places and although we will try to allocate pupils' first choice, we cannot guarantee first preference.

  2. Parents need to complete the paper application form. Remember to fill in the pupil's name and choices (1, 2 and 3); forms will not be accepted without a parent’s signature. The paper application form needs to be returned to Mr Bellamy in the Pastoral Office by Friday 17 November 2023.

  3. Pupils need to complete the online application form on SatchelOne SMHW by Friday 17 November 2023.

  4. Places will be allocated by Friday 24 November and pupils will be informed of their allocated activity by their tutor.
