Year 11 Mock Interviews

Over Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 January, pupils in Year 11 had the opportunity to rehearse important life skills as they prepared for and attended their Mock Interviews with people from the wider community who were meeting them for the first time.

Having the opportunity to come into school in smart dress gave some the confidence and many provided excellent draft CVs to support their ‘applications’. The interview schedule was planned and coordinated by Cath Brace, Assistant Head and Anne Burfoot, Year 11 Year Leader. The feedback from our pupils and our ‘guest’ interviewers has been really positive.

"The mock interview went really well and gave me a great idea of what future interviews might be like. I now feel much more confident for future situations such as a job or college interview." Cecily

"It was extremely useful for real life interview scenarios and helped me develop my CV and Personal Statement." Becca

"Personally I feel very satisfied with how my interview went. I gained a lot of experience doing this and it has enabled me to speak confidently." Finn

"The Mock Interview went really well and was really useful. I now feel confident going into my real interviews. I am glad we had them!" Edie

Libby Reed, Vice Principal, Cirencester College commented: "A range of interviewers from businesses were very comprehensively briefed at the two mock interview days held by Deer Park. It was clear by the smartness of dress and preparation of CVs that the students really valued this opportunity. They had their mock results and a wide range of ambitions to share. The students engaged well and the more hesitant developed confidence as the interviews progressed, sharing some amazing achievements, not just at school but in work experience, volunteering and the way they had actually worked on strategies to improve their communication skills. Despite student sickness, the process was exceptionally well organised from an interviewer’s point of view and the consensus was that we thoroughly enjoyed meeting the students and would sign up for next year!"

A massive thank you to everyone who helped and assisted Year 11 in the Mock Interviews. The two mornings were a massive success and our pupils made an excellent impression on the interviewers who were very complimentary about all of the year group.
