Year 9 Options 2021
Year 9, find out about which GCSEs to study
This is a vital time for our Year 9 pupils as they will soon be making their GCSE options choices ahead of ‘moving up’ to Year 10 in June 2021.
On Tuesday 19 January (was originally Wednesday 20 January), Year 9s will be having a year group assembly in MS Teams during tutor time, led by Deputy Headteacher Mrs Lang, to introduce the process of choosing GCSEs. On Thursday 21 January we are holding a Virtual Key Stage 4 Curriculum Evening in MS Teams for Year 9s and their parents to go through the ‘Choices at 14’ process. The information we cover should answer any questions you may have.
The Year 9 Next Step Target Reports were posted to parents on Friday 15 January. Pupils and their parents will be able to talk directly to their subject teachers at our virtual Year 9 Parents’ Evening on Thursday 28 January (see Letters). You might decide to wait until after the Parents' Evening before selecting options.
Parents and pupils are encouraged to take time to discuss and research the options available. There is no first come, first served basis so there is no need to rush to submit option choices. We advise pupils to find out all they can about the subjects they are interested in and be sure about what they want to study in Key Stage 4. Make informed decisions.
The final deadline for stating subject preferences – online, through MS Teams - is before half term on Tuesday 9 February 2021.
