Year 11 Leavers' Events

In the run-up to the Summer 2023 exams

The vast majority of our Class of 2023 joined Deer Park in 2018 and now, 5 years later, are approaching their last months with us before they sit their written exams and move on to the next stage of their educational journeys.

Whilst our young people are focusing on exam revision and preparation, there are a number of practicalities that  also need to be taken into consideration regarding Leavers' events:

  1. leavers hoodie 2023LEAVERS' HOODIES
Leavers' Hoodies are available to order directly via Prints and Threads in Cirencester. There is a wide range of colours and 3 choices of hoodie style, priced from £18.50. The order deadline is Monday 17 April, i.e. the first day back from the Easter break. All hoodies ordered will be delivered to school and handed out to pupils before study leave.

  2. AUTOGRAPH BOOKS
Deer Park Autograph Books are available to buy for £3, via WisePay. These will then be available for collection from Reception, where pupils can select from a range of colours.
  3. LEAVERS' LOCKERS
Year 11s should empty their lockers by Friday 12 May at the latest. The key should be returned to the Administration Office and the £5 deposit will be returned directly to the pupil.
  4. LEAVERS' BOOKLET
Our in-house team are putting together a special Leavers’ Booklet, with a collection of photographs from Year 7 to Year 11. The cost of these is £3, via WisePay. The order deadline is Friday 26 May. They will be available for collection at the Celebration of Achievement Evening in November (see below).
  5. LEAVERS' DAY: Friday 12 May
On Friday 12 May we will be celebrating our Class of 2023's time at Deer Park. All Year 11 pupils should be in school in full school uniform as normal. They will spend Periods 1 and 2 in lessons. After break pupils will congregate in a designated area to sign each other’s shirts - pupils can bring a white shirt with them on this day should they wish to take part in the shirt signing and can change at break; alternatively, they can purchase a Deer Park Autograph Book (see above). Following the shirt signing, there will be a BBQ on the front field with members of staff. We will then reflect on their time at Deer Park and celebrate their achievements in a final Leavers’ Assembly before dismissing them at 1.45pm.
  6. STUDY LEAVE: Monday 15 May
Official study leave will begin on Monday 15 May, the day of the first written GCSE exams. From this date onwards, our Class of 2023 are not required to wear uniform in school but their choice of clothing should be appropriate for the school environment and comfortable for sitting an exam. Pupils should come in to school promptly for each exam, details of which are outlined on their individual exam timetables (see Exams for a generic timetable). Pupils are welcome to work in school during Study Leave; they will, however, be required to register in advance and will have to be in school for the whole day.
  7. USED UNIFORM
If you have any items of good quality, used school uniform that is no longer required once study leave starts, please do bag up the items, mark clearly FAO Friends of Deer Park and send in to Reception. Throughout the year, the Friends of Deer Park hold Used Uniform Sales with items that have been donated by parents.
  8. CONTINGENCY DAY: Wednesday 28 June
As part of the awarding bodies' standard contingency planning for exams, Wednesday 28 June has been set aside as Contingency Day. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams in the event of national or significant local disruption to exams in the United Kingdom.
  9. LEAVERS' BALL: Friday 30 June.
Following their final examinations, we look forward to meeting up with our Class of 2023 again at their Leavers’ Ball on Friday 30 June from 7pm here at the School.  The Main Hall will be transformed. Tickets for the Ball cost £12 (inclusive of VAT) and need to be purchased in advance via WisePay, ideally no later than Friday 26 May. The price includes non-alcoholic drinks, a buffet/nibbles, music/entertainment and a photo booth where pupils can take their own photographs. This is an occasion for celebration. Our in-house team will be taking photographs of the arrivals for use in our Leavers' Booklet and on our website.
  10. RESULTS DAY: Thursday 24 August. The GCSE exam results will be available from 9.15am on Thursday 24 August.  We look forward to congratulating pupils on their achievements when they come to school to collect their results.
  11. CELEBRATION OF ACHIEVEMENT EVENING: November. There will an opportunity to formally celebrate the Class of 2023’s success at our Celebration of Achievement event in November 2023.  Further details will follow in due course.
