Lockdownload Conversation #3: Lynn Adlington
Rotarian, nurse and Volunteer in Sierra Leone

On Friday 26 June 2020 we were joined by Lynn Adlington talking about the international charity Help Madina which the Rotary Club of Cirencester has partnered over the past 2 years. Help Madina works with communities in Sierra Leone, West Africa to improve the health and wellbeing of the people who live in Madina district and other locations. Two of the co-founders are local Gloucestershire GPs. As a practice nurse and Rotarian, Lynn has had the opportunity to travel to Madina to support the projects run with the community supported by the charity.

The projects supported are led by the local people and include:

Medical Projects:

  • Mobile clinics
  • Chronic Disease Management
  • Screening for Tuberculosis
  • Cataract Programme
  • Children’s Feeding Centre

Community Projects:

  • Water and Sanitation
  • Care of the Elderly
  • Football
  • Assisting with agricultural development for community benefit

Miss Lillington, Associate Assistant Head, led this conversation with Lynn as it ties in with her being a passionate and enthusiastic teacher of Geography at Deer Park and someone who has worked for a number of charitable projects in various countries.

Lexi in Year 8 commented "I just wanted to say thank you for organising the call. It was interesting to hear what life was like in Sierra Leone."

You can listen to the conversation and see the presentation at the bottom of this page.
