Festive Fiesta

Raising funds for their volunteering trip to Ghana at Easter 2019, our Year 10 Ghana team held a Festive Fiesta in the Atrium after school on Monday 3 December 2018. The smell of candy floss was in the air and that particular stall certainly proved to be very popular with pupils! Read more...

Raffle tickets for the Christmas Hampers and other raffle prizes are still available from Reception - the draw will be made week commencing 17 December.

Our PE Faculty was hosting a Year 5/6 Primary Schools Indoor Athletics event in the Sports Hall next door and it was great to hear the enthusiasm of the young athletes and see them after their event.

Year Leaders Mrs Hannis (Year 7) and Mrs Reynolds (Year 8) have been running a series of fun craft sessions after school on Mondays. Open to all Year 7/8 pupils, pupils have been creating lovely decorations, cards and gifts for friends and family. School dog Cosmo is often in attendance, checking for biscuit crumbs!

Carol Service

We would like to invite pupils, parents and staff to our annual Christmas Carol Service on Tuesday 11 December 2018 in the Parish Church of St John Baptist, in Cirencester's Market Place. The event starts at 7pm and will finish at approximately 8.30pm. The service will include the singing of traditional carols, themed readings as well as musical items from the School choirs, DP Players Ensemble, the Flute Ensemble, a group of cellists, the Year 7 Group Song and other musical items, plus a special opening performance from some of our Talent Show performers.

We will be collecting for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity. The evening is a lovely way to get into the Christmas groove!

Christmas Jumper Day

The Deer Park Christmas Jumper Day will take place on the same day as Christmas Lunch (see above), Thursday 20 December. This opportunity to wear a festive jumper in school helps us to raise money for Save the Children and collect food items for the Cirencester Foodbank.

Tutors are coordinating donations of money or food items - minimum of 50p for Save the Children or a donation of food items for Cirencester Foodbank. The foodbank has messaged to say that they would really appreciate donations of non-perishable food items such as long-life milk, long-life juice, tea bags (40s or 80s), jars of instant coffee, tinned fruit and tinned vegetables. They would also love Christmas things such as chocolate treats for children etc. Please check their list.

Christmas Jumper Day relates ONLY to pupils' jumpers or (Key Stage 4 Girls) cardigans and is NOT a whole non uniform day. Does your child already have a Christmas jumper or could you, between you, jazz up a plain one?!

This is a great opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves, with a small donation of money or something for the Foodbank. Thank you.

Kindness Calendar

Have you seen the Action for Happiness advent calendar for December 2018? It is based on Kindness and has suggested daily actions to do throughout the month to help you spread a bit more kindness in the world. Kindness is contagious - why not see if you can promote kindness rather than consumerism.
