Talent Show 2018 Launch

The Deer Park Talent Show for Children in Need takes place 14-16 November 2018.

The Cirencester Deer Park School Talent Show 2018 was launched to pupils week ending 28 September 2018, encouraging them all to consider getting involved in one of our Expressive Arts Faculty’s larger school events. This biennial three night extravaganza is open to all pupils, and takes place with two heats, on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 November, and the final on Friday 16 November 2018.

Pupils are encouraged to get their thinking caps on and to begin planning their act ready for November. Entry deadline is Friday 12 October. Participants need to ensure that they will be available on Sunday 11 November for a 10 minute rehearsal slot.

Keira (Year 7) has started rehearsing for the Talent Show and said ‘I am quite excited about the Talent Show. I’m also very nervous! It’s my first Talent Show so I want to do well. I will be performing some Drama with my friends Izzy and Kabila.’

Previous acts have involved pupils performing musical instruments, magic tricks and gymnastics, as well as bands, unicyclists and even a dancing dog! The acts can be in groups, pairs or solo items and pupils will be judged in a Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 category, and an overall Talent Show winner. Previous Key Stage 3 winner, Molly (Year 10) said ‘I am really excited for the Talent Show. The last one was so much fun, and I’m really looking forward to performing in the Key Stage 4 category this year.’

Talent Show 2016 winner Emilie Townsend will be back as one of the four judges selecting the finalists. She will also perform on the night of the final.

Mrs Gleed, Head of Expressive Arts said 'I really enjoy the Talent Show. So many pupils surprise us with what they are interested in and how much effort they put in to get their acts ready for the show. It is fantastic. And of course it is all for Children in Need, which makes the event even more special.’

The entry deadline is Friday 12 October and once all acts have been allocated to either Heat 1 or Heat 2, tickets will go on sale. Keep an eye out for more information. Heats take place on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 November, with the successful acts going through to the final on Friday 16 November 2018, raising money for Children in Need. We hope you will be able to come along and support the various talents of our children.
