Open for Learning
After less than twelve months, three of our faculties moved into new accommodation in June 2018 and, after their first term in our new blue flagship building, staff and pupils are thrilled with the light and airy learning environment.

This week, on Friday 14 September 2018, we will be officially opening this extension to our main building and to help us, former pupil and three times Olympic gold medallist, Peter Reed, OBE, will return to the school to meet with pupils and cut the ribbon! Peter has kept in touch with us during his career and has returned with each of his gold medals. We were absolutely delighted when he accepted our invitation.
Since moving into their new accommodation, each faculty has made their areas their own. On the ground floor, our English Faculty, having chosen red for the doors of their new ‘teaching walls’, quickly displayed helpful learning and revision tips. This term they have also provided motivation in the form of a few well-chosen quotations in their determination to promote and foster a love of reading. Similarly, as you ascend the stairs, an inspirational quotation from Malala Yousafzai chosen by Emma Hope, Head of RP, Citizenship and PSHEe, and her team, shares a clear message and sets the tone for learning on the first floor. To complement this passion for education, our Computing and Business Faculty have selected quotations relevant to their curriculum too. Both teams have taken advantage of their shelving units to display a range of artefacts which they routinely use in their teaching.

‘I can still remember when Chiquita first showed me the plans for the building. It was exciting when I had a first look at the design for a new English area, but she said ‘of course it might not happen’. It’s been a real privilege to have the opportunity to be involved in some of the decisions about the new building. From choosing the colour of the incredible classroom wall cupboards – we went for a vibrant red - to deciding which inspirational quotes about literature we wanted on the walls of the corridor.’ Mrs Davies, Head of English

The opening of Deer Park’s new building will form part of another important event on Friday 14 September: the formal launch of The Corinium Education Trust. At this ceremony, Dame Fiona Reynolds, Master of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and Patron of The Corinium Education Trust, will share a platform with Hannah Woodhouse, Deputy Director at the Regional Commissioner’s Office in Bristol, Chief Executive, Chiquita Henson and Graham Russell, Chair of Trustees.
Currently over 30 people associated with The Corinium Education Trust and Cirencester Deer Park School have confirmed they will be attending these events.
