MASSIVE local activities during Enrichment Week.

40 (new) Year 9 pupils participated in the MASSIVE programme for Enrichment Week 2018, an exciting local week of varying activities including several trips out of school.

On Monday, pupils were divided into two groups, which swapped after lunch. One group was in the Art department, designing and printing t-shirts which they then took home, whilst the others were in the Sports Hall, learning circus skills, including juggling, tight rope walking and unicycling. There were some great t-shirt designs (some original and some based on famous brands) and pupils amazed themselves with their coordination and balance whilst learning new skills.

Tuesday saw pupils at Far Peak Climbing Centre where they rotated round bouldering, rock climbing on the outdoor 10m wall, archery and a low ropes course. Some pupils found some of these activities challenging but they demonstrated a great deal of resilience and all pupils completed the activities.

On Wednesday, we travelled to the water park to participate in a treasure hunt round the lakes and tackle the 16km bike ride in and around South Cerney.

Thursday was another busy day, visiting the RAU Harnhill Manor Farm in the morning, learning about farm life including pigs, cows, arable farming and the use of farm machinery. In the afternoon, pupils jumped to their hearts' content at XJump trampoline park in Gloucester.

On Friday our pupils participated in a variety of sporting activities at school in the morning, followed by a fun packed afternoon at Cirencester Outdoor Pool.

We were lucky this year with amazing weather all week. Pupils behaved impeccably and should be commended for their efforts in each and every activity.

“Enrichment Week was very good because I am new to the school and I made a lot of new friends. The activities were challenging which taught me how to cooperate with other pupils. Overall, I think it is definitely a fun and productive week.” Tom R

Mrs Voss "It was a fantastic week seeing the pupils stepping out of their comfort zones and enjoying a range of different activities!"

"I enjoyed the bike ride the most because it was a nice day and I don’t usually get to ride my bike for a long time. I also enjoyed swimming because it allowed me to have a few hours at the pool relaxing with friends.” James L

Ms Wright "I thoroughly enjoyed the week. The t-shirt printing was a great experience and our pupils really amazed me with their creativity, perseverance and skill!"

“I found Enrichment Week really fun and enjoyable. I liked it as I tried lots of new skills.” Lydia S

"Fantastic week for me, I think the highlight was seeing the beaming smiles on children's faces when they overcame the fear and anxiety of trying new things. Willow at the top of the boulder wall, Floss discovering her inner farmer at Harnhill and Archie firing off a gold in archery." Mrs Harris
