Year 10 Football

On the road to the County Final!

The Cirencester Deer Park School Year 10 Football team won their County semi-final match 3 - 0 against Chipping Campden on Tuesday 1 May 2018. Another fantastic achievement as we are effectively the best team in Gloucestershire now, having knocked out the District winners from Gloucester, Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean. We are in the official County Final (involving numerous teaching councils), against the winners of Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We have not had a team at this level in over 15 years!

The county semi-final, played at Winchcombe, was extremely tight and tense for much of the match, with the score still 0-0 at full time. The match was dominated by solid defences, few chances created and midfield battles. However, in the second half we created more goal scoring opportunities and started to attack the space out wide and get around their defence. Team organisation and concentration was paramount throughout, with the back four showing great unity once more.

In extra time we kept possession much better and moved the ball more quickly. We absolutely went for it with tremendous play from the team and 3 cracking goals, from Luke, Adam and Ameer. We have an unbelievable opportunity ahead of us: the chance to be county champions!

Congratulations to Reuben, Lewis, Brad, Leo, Dan H, Orlando, Ben, Luke, Luca, Aaron, Adam, Ameer, Dan D and Freddie. Man of the Match: Brad.

A fully deserved victory and another brilliant team performance where the players have shown unbelievable maturity to their game,  involving excellent technical and tactical knowledge, skill and understanding  way beyond their years!
