Quiz Night & Promises Auction

On Friday 14 October (7.30-10.30pm) our Ghana 2017 group are holding a fundraising Quiz Night and Promises Auction here in the Main Hall at school.

In April 2017 a team of 27 Year 10 pupils from Deer Park will be volunteering in Ghana with Headteacher, Chiquita Henson, Geography teacher, Stacey Bluett and RP, Citizenship and English teacher Callum Broussine. They will be travelling to Ghana with African Adventures on a journey of a lifetime.

Quiz Night and Promises Auction Ghana 2017The focus of our team’s collective energy at the moment is our Ghana Quiz Night and Promises Auction on Friday 14 October. Quiz teams can have up to 8 participants. Tickets are available via WisePay (£5.10) or Reception (£5), and the price includes cheese and crackers. Cash bar, over 18s only.

Planned and supported by some of the team’s parents we aim to raise over £2000. The auction site is now live. We are grateful for the generous donations and we welcome bids. It promises to be an exciting auction. Are you interested in bidding for a week’s self-catering accommodation in Brittany, a day’s canal cruise for up to 12 people, meal vouchers or photo shoots? What might you successfully bid for?

The Promises Auction will close on the evening of Friday 14 October. Final bids will be taken during our fundraising evening. Please take a look and help our pupils make a difference to their own and others’ lives! Check our auction site to see what is on offer.

Each member of the Ghana 2017 team has been challenged to raise 50% of the cost of their involvement in this amazing opportunity and the team, as a whole, set a target to raise 10% of the total cost. So far the team has raised just over £1000 by selling cakes at Parents’ Evenings etc. You can read about their team building weekend in May.

Impressively, many members of the team have already exceeded their personal fund raising targets and the group is now working together to ensure they have sufficient funds to support their activities in the schools they will be volunteering in. These include fulfilling roles as teaching assistants, community builders and sports leaders.
