Talent Show 2016

In assemblies this week our pupils have been encouraged to begin practising for the widely anticipated biennial Deer Park Talent Show.

This event, which raises money for BBC Children in Need, takes place 16-18 November and coincides with the televised appeal show. Two evenings of heats - on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 November - where pupils will take to the stage aiming to impress the judges, will be followed by the final night of performances on Friday 18 November, where successful acts will perform again for a chance of winning the contest.

Pupils have already started filling the practice rooms in Expressive Arts during lunchtimes! It is exciting to see how enthusiastic they are.

Previous Talent Shows have seen a wide variety of acts from gymnasts, magicians and bands to a pupil and her dog doing tricks in matching costumes!

The Deer Park Talent Show has a history of promoting talent. One of this year’s judges and 2014 Winner, Alex Ololade, went on to play a lead part in the whole school production of the musical Footloose in November 2016. Former pupils Katy and Rob Pearson, who were 2010 Key Stage 4 winners, played as Ardyn at popular Indie music festival, Bestival, last weekend and our very first Talent Show winner is Giffords Circus stalwart Nancy Trotter-Landry.

To enter the Talent Show, pupils must apply through iDeer on the Talent Show page with information about their act along with an ‘entry code’, which can be obtained from Expressive Arts teachers.

Good luck to all pupils entering the show – and get practising!
