Three pupils from Cirencester Deer Park School successfully passed through Hell's Kitchen over the past 6 weeks. Joined by pupils from Farmor's and Coln House, the team of 8 worked together in this unique opportunity with The Cotswold Chef, Rob Rees. Over the six weeks of the project, pupils experienced bee keeping, the abattoir and how to fillet fresh fish, to name but a few activities.
The Expressive Arts faculty are still hard at work at the moment with rehearsals as it gets ever closer to the big deadline. However, everyone has their best 80s outfit sorted and is ready for the big event… The opening night of FAME!
This week sees the launch of our 2010 Enrichment Week (our 19th Enrichment Week) which takes place in the first week of July 2010.

This week we welcomed back the ‘Class of 2009’ who achieved an impressive 72% 5 or more A*-C grades in their GCSEs this summer with some pupils scooping excellent grades in as many as 15 subjects. We are delighted to learn that over 90% of the year group have chosen to continue with their learning at either Cirencester College or another post-16 provider.
Within the Expressive Arts Faculty there are two BTEC courses offered to students in Key Stage 4 - in addition to GCSE Drama, GCSE Music and NCFE Music Technology. These BTECs are a relatively new style of course and have key differences to GCSEs.

With Cirencester Deer Park being recognised as a School of Creativity earlier this year it’s time to exercise our creative muscles! Year 10 have been taking some great photographs for their coursework and you can see some examples here.
October 2009 has been an exciting time in the Maths Faculty. Mrs Bond, Mr Vaughan and Mr van Wyk have been delighted to welcome Year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools to take part in our Crystal Maze Challenge. The challenge involves pupils completing number, shape and logic puzzles against the clock whilst developing their skills in team work, communication and problem solving.
In September, Cirencester Deer Park School opened its new Inclusion Centre. Headteacher, Chiquita Henson explained, ‘The centre extends the repertoire of our Pupil Services Team and the provision we make to ensure our pupils’ personal development and wellbeing which was judged to be outstanding in our last Ofsted inspection. It is designed to meet the needs of a range of learners and complements our existing strategies. It reflects our commitment to ensuring all pupils can achieve more than they first think they can.’
