Studying BTEC Performing Arts will provide students with many vocational skills that will serve them beyond Deer Park.
The qualification will provide students with a broad foundation which will help enable them to proceed into further training or education, or to consider employment in the performing arts world. The course aims to give learners a practical understanding of what a career in the performing arts world can entail, from business to performance. The structure of the course allows students to focus on your talents and interests and explore new areas, such as devising plays.
There are 2 pathways offered to students taking Performing Arts:
The 3 units that will be covered are:
Understanding Drama (60 GLH)
Learners will understand about the development of drama, the key characteristics of drama and the structure it uses. They will also explore the process of putting a drama performance together.
Musical Theatre (60 GLH)
Learners will develop their acting, music and dance skills and learn to combine them in the manner that they are used in Musical Theatre.
Performing Arts Production Process (60 GLH)
Learners will looks at how to plan, develop, produce and stage their own production, looking at every aspect of Performing Arts.
This course has a very strong performance element and emphasis on theatrical and stage technique.
The 3 units that will be covered are:
Acting (60 GLH)
The skills developed in this unit are vital in the development of confidence and understanding of the role of the actor.
Understanding Drama (60 GLH)
Learners will understand about the development of drama, the key characteristics of drama and the structure it uses. They will also explore the process of putting a drama performance together.
Devising Plays (60 GLH)
Learners will look at ways of structuring material into dramatic form and creating original work for performance to an audience or for a demonstration of their work.
