You are here: Parents / Food, Glorious Food
We are very proud of the quality of the food available to pupils during the school day. We manage our own catering operations so we are able to respond quickly to changes in eating patterns due to the weather for example. We use as much fresh, locally produced food as we can and we make much of our own bread.
|
The quality of our food is recognised externally and by staff and pupils. We have been awarded the highest level of food hygiene in the last two Food Standards Agency inspections and we have held a Healthy Schools Award since 2008. Take up of school meals is significantly above the average for most secondary schools and pupils are actively encouraged to eat school-produced food which is both appetising and healthy. We have two food outlets: the MAIN HALL offering predominantly hot food and the ATRIUM offering sandwiches, cakes, snacks and drinks. Both outlets are normally open for both morning break and across both lunchtimes. |

DEER PARK PACKED LUNCH
Parents can also order a Deer Park Packed Lunch from the Canteen with their choice of a variety of cold food items. Parents can select from a range of healthy food and drinks which will be prepared to order and packaged in a paper bag for collection by pupils either at morning break or lunchtime. Parents can download an order form below (choose whichever format you prefer) and e-mail the completed form to the canteen on a daily/weekly basis (the email address is on the form).
SMART CARD
Every pupil is issued with a 'smart card' when they join us. This card can be charged with monetary value and then used in both of the catering outlets in school. This makes buying food quicker and easier for the pupils and very secure – cards are personalised to prevent their use by another child and can be “stopped” if they are lost or mislaid to prevent anyone else using them. Parents can be confident that the value placed on the card can only be spent in school and not on the way to school.
|
Our preferred method of putting value onto the smart card is ParentPay which enables parents to credit money to the card via the internet paying with either a debit or credit card. This is quick and easy and a large number of parents in school already use this system. Year 7 parents will receive a letter with details of how to set up a ParentPay account in the week prior to your child starting with us and you can charge up your child’s smart card (which will be issued to them on their first day at school) before they have even started at school. If you prefer not to use ParentPay we also accept cheques and cash at the Finance Office to credit smart cards and the food outlets also accept cash. |
