What a wonderful day of surprises and adventures for Year 6s. The sun was certainly shining for everyone!
The Induction Day into Cirencester Deer Park School is always a special day for pupils, parents and teachers. All pupils met with their tutors for the new school year in the Main Hall for a first assembly with Ms Henson, Mr Francis, and Miss Skerten. The warm welcome was followed by an exciting day of activities and experiences that culminated in the evening with a meeting for mums and dads and pupils reviewing the day’s activities and planning ahead for the new school year.
Pupils really enjoyed seeing themselves on screen - an excellent production was made during the day by the school's media team. The evening event included presentations by Year 6 pupils; and the School Choir sang songs from Fame, the forthcoming school production. In a hot School Hall, on one of the warmest evenings of the year, mums and dads together with sons and daughters were able to seek refreshments, talk to their sons' and daughters' tutors as well as attend workshops on special education needs, transport and meet the Friends of Deer Park parents who support the School and its activities.
The day, although long, provided answers to questions, introductions to faces and places, the experience of the delight of a school meal, meeting and making new friends and information that provides a great start to the new school adventure. We wish all our future pupils well and look forward to seeing them on Thursday 3rd September.
