1945 Day : Primary Schools

What an amazing day in school on Friday!

Two of our primary schools were invited to join in with the celebrations and joined a Street Party in front of the school. There were Year 3 pupils from Chesterton who got straight into the spirit of the era by dressing up accordingly. This was the start of their history topic on World War two. As well as them, there were 25 Year 4 pupils from Stratton school who studied this era in history last term.

All the children were fascinated by the artefacts they saw and by talking to people who were dressed appropriately. The bus was a real hit and there were so many smiling excited faces peering from the lovely old Alexcars bus. They joined in dancing to the wonderful music created by the JJ Swing Band and the tea party was a real treat to finish the afternoon.

Upon returning to school some of the Stratton children commented that ,” the music was so exciting and we even tried to milk a cow!” Another child said that it made all he had learnt last term come alive!

What an experience for these children and one they will always remember.
