Our Partnerships

As a specialist school we are committed to working in partnership with other secondary schools, our local primary schools and business and industry to enhance learning and life chances across our local, national and international communities. Our roles within our Leading Edge Partnership and as a Training School are based on effective collaboration.

Primary School Partnership

We are committed to ‘offering more than a visible curriculum’ and are keen to achieve smooth transitions between Key Stages 2 and 3 and Year 11 and post 16 education and training or employment. There are three key strands to our work with local primary schools; our induction programme for pupils choosing the school in Year 6, our outreach programme negotiated with headteachers as a specialist school and our role within the Cotswold Sports Partnership. Our primary specialist, Mrs Bond, co-ordinates our outreach programme focusing on KS2-3 transition.

Currently, there are seven local primary schools in the Partnership; Chesterton, Kemble, Powells, Rodmarton, Sapperton, Stratton and Watermoor although opportunities do exist for other schools to get involved in some of the activities. Read more...

The Cotswold School Sports Partnership

Deer Park School has been a member of the local School Sports Partnership since 2003, together with seven other secondary schools in the area. The partnerships were set up nationally to improve participation in Physical Education, both in curriculum time and with school clubs. This extends into the primary schools, of which seven schools form our cluster or family. Read more...

Each year every school is assessed as part of the PE, School Sport and Young People (PESSYP) programme and we are proud of the fact that Deer Park School has been awarded the Sports Mark for the last 4 years and the primary schools all have Active Mark. We have also contributed significantly towards the Partnership gaining Partnership Mark for the last two years. Our School Sports Co-ordinator is Mrs Clarke.

International School Partnership

Our staff and pupils are encouraged to make ‘the challenge an opportunity’ and this spirit underpins our involvement in international partnerships. We achieved the British Council’s International Schools’ Award in 2005 and have just been re-designated for a further three year period. Assistant Head, Jerry Richer, co-ordinates ‘the global dimension’ and ensures that our partnership work is deeply embedded into our curriculum. For example, in February 2009, Year 11 pupils flew to Alfrink College in Holland to participate in their annual ‘mock’ United Nations ‘Conference and now contribute to our debating club.

We are currently working on curriculum projects as a part of the UNESCO Associated Schools Programme and within our Comenius project with other European Schools. >> Read more...

The South Cotswold Partnership

The South Cotswold Partnership consists of various educational partners to provide opportunities for young people across the district. We are currently working on various projects to ensure young people are able to carry on in education, such as creating a flexible and personalise curriculum.

The South Cotswold Partnership is also looking to develop a close working relationship with business so that we are able to work together to provide our employees of the future with the skills required to succeed. The new Diplomas that are currently being developed will be offered across the Partnership over the next few years, starting with Creative & Media in September 2009.
