In the summer of 2012, a group of pupils from Cirencester Deer Park School have been given a chance to head off to Brazil and Argentina for an expedition of a lifetime. The 28 day journey is one of the most adventurous trips that our school has ever encountered and will include amazing opportunities to help a variety of communities and explore cultures completely different to our own. The expedition will take us on a four day trek to the Serra de Mantiquierra mountain range and to the magnificent Iguazu falls to help rescue, rehabilitate and re-introduce endangered birds into the rainforest.
We will also visit Rio de Janeiro, where we will be helping youth like ourselves who have had to live on the streets. We really hope that this fantastic project that we are honoured to participate in will make a small yet positive difference to those in the area who have had to suffer such distressing circumstances at such a young age, and give them a brighter future, and a more hopeful view of life. We also hope to gain a better perspective of how lucky we truly are to come from the Cirencester area. We hope that this journey will make us truthfully appreciate how much we take for granted here and hope it will make us more rounded individuals with a further awareness and realisation of the world around us.
