Y11 Leavers’ Ball

At Deer Park we like to celebrate achievement, success and the completion of exams!

Deer Park has a fine tradition of celebrating Year 11’s last days at school in style. On May 22nd the year group were treated to an hour long assembly which reflected on all of their fond memories through school. With the help of parents we were also able to put together some lovely slides of them as young as two years old! Over the last four weeks some 30 GCSE papers have been sat by the year 11 pupils. We sincerely hope that all their preparation from their mock exams in December has paid off.

On Friday 19th June the students returned to school in the evening to celebrate their final departure from school. The Deer Park Leavers’ Ball is heavily discussed by all pupils in the school. It has indeed become a community event. Pupils began to arrive as early as 6.45pm in the most imaginative forms of transport: from space hopper to tractor and everything in between. For this social event it was certainly cool to be early!! Many families and staff were there to welcome the students to the ball. The theme was Manhattan and certainly the school hall had been transformed into a very swanky venue. Chocolate fountains were definitely a hit with staff, whilst the dancing was left to the more able!

Photos will be added as soon as available! So keep an eye out!

We look forward to welcoming you all back on Thursday 12th November for your Celebration of Achievement where we can reflect on your successes at the school across the years. In the meantime we hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable summer. Fingers crossed for results day, Thursday 27 August!!

KS3 Celebration of Achievement

On Thursday 16th July we hold the Key Stage 3 Celebration of Achievement. It is expected that all Year 9 (new Y10) pupils should attend. Parents are also invited. Pupils have been nominated from all the faculties in the school in the areas of effort, improvement and attainment. There are also nominations from Arts and Physical Education for extra curricular involvement. Pupils won’t know if they have won the nominations until the evening, so please encourage them to come along. There will also be a Headteacher’s Award for outstanding effort and attainment.

Our guest speaker for this event is Kevin Sheppard who is an ex-pupil of Deer Park and is about to embark on one of the toughest challenges of his life when he attempts the Polar Challenge 2010 - a 350 mile race across the High Arctic. Find out more...

These evenings are always very well attended and a wonderful way to acknowledge the hard work, dedication and commitment of the young people at Deer Park.
