We have an action-packed few weeks in front of us, not only within school, but also being able to follow Wimbledon and hoping for success in the second rush for London 2012 Olympic tickets! Within school we have a busy time ahead following last week's heats for Sports Day. Fifty of our athletes will be at the Prince of Wales Athletics Competition in Cheltenham on Wednesday, competing against pupils from all the other schools in the area. Cricket, tennis and rounders fixtures continue, as well as a County Cricket Cup Semi Final for the Year 7 Boys on 21 June, away against Sir Thomas Rich's School in Gloucester. Good Luck to everyone! On Wednesday 22 June, in conjunction with Gloucester and Cirencester Rugby, we have a professional coach coming in to school to deliver Girls Touch Rugby training sessions to any of our girls who are interested (sign up outside the PE Office). These sessions will run after school on Wednesdays until the end of term. During National School Sports Week, 27 June - 1 July, we continue with all the normal clubs and practices but our big sporting event of the year takes place on Wednesday 29th June: Sports Day PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO THURSDAY 21 JULY. This is always a great event which enables us to see amazing Tutor Group spirit and exciting competition. Lets hope the weather is kind to us! There's a Year 9 Rounders Tournament at Stroud High School on Monday and we are hosting the Primary Area Athletics event which is a huge event for all schools in the area and is attended by the pupils that came through the District Events run at Kingshill and Deer Park . Both tournaments are organised and run by our SSCO Di Clarke. Good luck to all. Our Faculty in Focus closes with an amazing Enrichment Week (4-8 July). Miss Smith will lead a Water Sports trip to France, Mr Schlaefli is running a Football Coaching trip, including two days at Chelsea Football Club, and Mrs Hacker will be organising a Water Sports Week using local coaches and facilities. Here's to a great week. |
