Ofsted Inspection

11th May 2010.

An Ofsted inspection team will be in school on Wednesday and Thursday. They will observe lessons, look at pupil work, talk to members of staff, groups of pupils and governors and then make a judgement as to what kind of school Deer Park is. They already have the impression that we are a very good school but we all have an important role to play.

A letter and questionnaire from Ofsted was sent home to all parents/carers yesterday. Ofsted are interested to know what parents and their child(ren) think is good about the school, as well as anything that they would like to be improved, so please do take the time to fill in the form and return it to school, preferably by 1pm on 12 May. If you have mislaid the documents that came home from school, you can access them here: Ofsted letter/questionnaire, Ofsted School Inspections Guide.

Pupils have a strong voice within the school. They make a positive contribution to the school by engaging in discussion through the School Council, our review of the school standards, our premises development and travel plans, and the design of our new VLE. Pupils learn well in lessons and most are able to explain what they are doing, the level or grade they are currently achieving and what they need to do next. They have lots of opportunities to participate in a range of activities, most recently in our mock election and VE Day. Pupils make a commitment to extra curricular activities in sport, the Arts and challenge themselves as a part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and in our annual Enrichment Week.

Please make the team feel welcome. We would like the Ofsted team to see what a special school Deer Park is. At the end of the inspection the lead inspector writes to pupils to advise them of the impression they have made and the outcome of the inspection!

Thank you for your co-operation.
