Mock Referendum

Wednesday 11 May 2011

Following the excitement of the royal wedding and the serious implications of the national referendum on voting reform, all pupils have been taking part in a great debate about the future of the monarchy in the United Kingdom.

Throughout tutor time, PSHEe and Global Citizenship sessions there have been some interesting and impassioned debates about the rights and wrongs of the Monarchy in the 21st Century. Throughout this week all pupils will have the opportunity to vote in the Cirencester Deer Park Mock Referendum to decide the answer to the question “Should the United Kingdom have a Monarchy in the 21st Century?”.

This whole school event has helped pupils develop their political literacy and supported the development of debating and decision making skills that are so key in attaining good results in subjects across the school.
