Spotlight on...ICT & Marketing

Careers are in the spotlight for Key Stage 4 pupils at Cirencester Deer Park School. As part of its Information, Advice and Guidance programme the school has organised a series of workshops focusing on different careers areas. Pupils are able to sign up to as many as they wish so they find out what it takes to succeed in different sectors of industry.

The programme was kicked off by a seminar on ICT and Marketing. Matt Charman and Vicky Fraser from Symantec came in to school and talked about the industry to give pupils an insight into the world of working in one of the world’s leading software companies. Pupils gained valuable understanding into the different roles available in a large, global company and were given advice on how to gain employment in this sector. Prepared with a wide range of questions, pupils were able to quiz the visitors about their daily routines, how to succeed and gain promotion and which technical qualifications were required to work in the industry. Matt Charman, Marketing Manager for Symantec Hosted Services, said “It was great to see these young people so interested in their future careers. If the strength of their questions is anything to go by, I am sure they will go a long, long way!”
