Friday 6 January 2012
We were very pleased to welcome our pupils back to school on Wednesday 4 January and we look forward to sharing our Year 11 pupils’ mock exam results with them today, Friday 6 January. Their performance will give them and us an indication of what their results may look like later this summer and will help individuals identify areas for improvement! We are also expecting some module exam results this month, specifically in Maths.
There are some important dates to remember this term.
Pupils in Year 11 have their actual GCSE English Exam on Tuesday 10 January and, later this month, there are GCSE Science modules and a Geography Unit. Pupils are reminded to check their exam timetables, revise thoroughly, arrive punctually and ensure they are well equipped!
Year 11s will receive their interim reports on Friday 27 January prior to our Year 11 Parent/Teachers’ Evening on Thursday 2 February from 6pm.
Before this however, we have our Year 8 Parents’ Evening on Thursday 12 January and pupils should now be scheduling appointments.
We have begun to talk to pupils in Year 9 about the opportunities ahead of them. Miss Wright, Head of Languages, has arranged for a specialist to come in to school to raise an awareness of the importance of Languages in the world of work and study. Year 9s and their parents are invited to our Year 9 Key Stage 4 Curriculum Evening on Thursday 26 January. This will be an opportunity to find out more about the courses we are offering them from June 2012. These will include some new options!
As a school we are looking forward to participating in national events in 2012. We are contributing to the planning locally for the Queens’ Diamond Jubilee and we are already signed up to promote London 2012 through the Olympic ‘Get Set’ network. Watch this space for more information.
