Frozen Lakes and Ponds

Have fun out and about in the snow but stay safe and warm. Wear lots of layers, and take snacks, a warm drink if possible, and your mobile phone with you.

Although lakes, ponds and canals across the region may have frozen, DO NOT GO OUT ONTO THE ICE and be tempted to walk, slide or play there. You cannot be sure the ice will hold your weight. And by the time you find out it’s not going to, it may be too late - people die every year after falling into frozen water.

There’re plenty of other places to have fun, so keep safe and keep clear of frozen lakes and ponds.

There have been reports of young people walking on the lake in Cirencester Park – although the public has access to the Park, please note that the Mansion Pond and Grounds are private property and anyone playing in this area is trespassing, as well as putting their life in danger.
