Enrichment Week - London

Wednesday 20 July 2011

During our annual Enrichment Week, a group of pupils in Key Stage 3 who chose to stay in the UK had the opportunity to participate in a ‘Capital Experience’. After spending some time researching their trip the pupils spent three days in London visiting and learning about our capital city, its history and culture. In addition to sightseeing, the pupils, under close supervision, also learnt to use the underground and explore the city.

After the initial coach journey the pupils and accompanying staff dropped off their bags at the hotel before walking along the Thames to the London Eye and later River Boat Cruise. Carl Elliott, Head of ICT and Business who co-ordinates the trip, described it as ‘non-stop action!’ Over the three days the pupils had the opportunity to enjoy street theatre, and well as going to a West End show. The 3D cinema was a transformational experience. After a leisurely midnight walk, everyone in the group was ready for bed.
‘Pupils and staff enjoyed a thoroughly capital experience this year. A wonderful time was had by all, and the students were a credit to the school.’ Mr Elliott was also keen to express his gratitude to the team: ‘Thanks also to the members of staff who gave up their time to guide and supervise, making it a hugely successful trip!’
