Enrichment Week - Club Correze

Monday 18 July 2011

Wicked’, ‘hot’, ‘sunny’, ‘awesome’, ‘wet’ and ‘hilarious’ are just a few words pupils participating in our outdoor pursuits trip to Club Correze, in the Limousin area of France, used to describe their experience. And what a week it was too! There were screams of joy and nerves of steel. The competition was on.

Those who did not choose this option missed out on an amazing week full of activities from water sports to high ropes. The group arrived in Meymac, for their 10 day extravaganza; 17 boys and 17 girls and 4 staff were ready to take on the challenge of Club Correze.

There were activities to test the pupils’ mental and physical powers including water sports like canoeing, kayaking, sailing and boarding to mounting biking, orienteering, the mud pit, target sports and a high ropes course. Resilience and reciprocity was shown in the evening team games including initiative games, team sports, and treasure hunt. The week concluded with a fun disco dancing and awards evening for all. Throughout the week additional awards were given out to pupils daily for funny events. The group returned home in the early hours of Monday 11 July, absolutely exhausted! Fay Smith, who as group leader organised the trip, said, ‘On reflection the week was the best one yet. The pupils were a pleasure to be around and when you hear the words “I don’t want to go home” you know that the trip has been successful.’

Georgia Walker described the high ropes as a ‘rewarding experience’: ‘I was nervous at the start but managed to get all the way around and felt a massive sense of achievement.

Liv Raeburn enjoyed the trip; ‘The staff were the best, from the morning wake up calls to getting involved in all the activities and their good sense of humour. It made us all smile.’

‘The mud pit was funny but cold, I would love to do it again. Top to toe in sticky gooey mud was highly entertaining, especially for Clemmie who was completely camouflaged!’ reflected Chloe Singh.

Georgia Curtis said, ‘It was the best outdoor activities centre, with awesome instructors.’
