(30 Mar 2010) As the term comes to an end on Thursday 1st April, we can look back over a hectic period for all our pupils and teachers. Modular examinations for different year groups of pupils have been taking place together with numerous extra curricular activities for us and our local primary schools. A special mention must go to PE and Expressive Arts for their contribution and dedication to both the Sports Relief charity fund raising where over £1,000 was raised and the Expressive Arts showcase where an evening of music, drama and dance was performed. Year 11 pupils are in the process of completing coursework assignments and planning and revising for forth coming examinations. Extra support sessions have been offered to all pupils with respect to increasing their self confidence and understanding of examination subject demands. The School Travel Plan has been completed in conjunction with the Local Authority and a working party consisting of school governors, parents, pupils and teachers has been put in place. The Travel Plan spans a period of time from 2010 to 2014 with an action plan to guide the working party. The first meeting of the group will be in June. Both the Key Stage 3 and 4 School Councils have debated and reviewed the Travel Plan with pupil representatives elected to bring proposals to the first meeting of the working party. Joint funding between the School and Local Authority has also given our School the opportunity to design and refurbish our dining and hall facilities including new tables and chairs in the Main Hall and new school Atrium area. The first part of the refurbishment programme will be undertaken during the Easter holiday where the school main hall flooring will be resurfaced.
We wish you a happy Easter holiday.
