20 January 2011
As you are aware in November 2010 we invited you to respond to our detailed questionnaire and to take part in our consultation, following the opportunity, offered to all ‘outstanding’ schools, to become an Academy.
I advise you that we have now taken the decision to ‘proceed towards conversion’ and, to give you an opportunity to find out more about what this means, I invite you to a special Parents’ Consultation and Feedback Meeting on Tuesday 25 January 2011 at 7.00pm in the Main Hall. At this meeting we will summarise the key issues arising from the questionnaire and our response and share our strategic objectives and outline how we feel the move to Academy Status will benefit the School and our pupils’ learning. You will have the opportunity to talk to senior members of staff, meet members of the governing body and ask any questions you may have.
Becoming an Academy is a very important decision for the School and one that we have not taken lightly. We have sought guidance and liaised closely with other schools and representatives from the Local Authority. However, we would welcome your views before we take the final decision to ‘convert to an Academy’ in March for 1 April 2011. I do hope you will be able to join us.
Please complete and return the reply slip to your child’s tutor by Thursday 20 January 2011 to confirm your attendance and to help us plan, please include any questions you may wish to raise. Alternatively you can confirm your attendance and submit any questions by email to enquiries@deerparkschool.net by the same deadline. Thank you. I look forward to meeting with you.
