Applied Learning Embedded
As a school with an Applied Learning specialism, we have embedded applied learning into the school curriculum with the suite of BTEC First Certificate, NCFE, OCR and CISCO courses being taught at Key Stage 4. These courses have allowed pupils to learn subject content in an applied way and within a real world context. Performing Arts pupils are watching a performance by a theatre group next week, which will lead into their first assessed piece of work. Scientists are rejuvenating the allotment area and will be using this in their studies. The Good Life beckons!!
The Project MKII
Supporting the development of pupils across the school is vital to the success of personal development. Some of our current Year 10 pupils were involved in The Project MKII, which was organised by The South Cotswold Partnership and involved pupils from other partner institutions as well as colleagues from Connexions Gloucestershire and the Youth Service. Pupils took part in team building activities including canoeing, tunnelling and raft building. The aim of the project is to support young people’s decision-making throughout the remaining time at school. Further days will include Post-16 taster activities, as well as help with applications. Photos from The Project MKII day will be posted here soon!
Pupil & Parental Questionnaire
14-19 education is a strand at the heart of the secondary strategy and will become more of a focal point as 2013 draws closer. To this end, Cirencester Deer Park School is working with the South Cotswold Partnership to canvas the views of parents of pupils in Year 9. Mr Germaine, 14-19 Curriculum Coordinator will be speaking with Year 9 pupils in assembly on Tuesday 9th June to explain the various changes and exciting opportunities that will be taking place in the near future.
The school will be sending home a questionnaire for parents with pupils in Year 9, asking them for their views on subjects ranging from transport to diplomas. The information gained from these replies will help inform the next phase of curriculum offer. We ask that these questionnaires are returned to the school reception by FRIDAY 19th JUNE 2009 please.
Pupils will also have an opportunity to give us their views, as we will be asking them to complete an online survey in the near future. The results of which will be available online in September.
