Last Thursday 200 Year 7 pupils participated in their first Debating Day which was organised by a group of Year 10 Cirencester Deer Park School pupils and their Dutch exchange partners from Alfrink College Zoetermeer, The Netherlands.
Exams have started for our Y11 pupils and Friday 20th May is their final day. Pupils will leave at 2pm, following lunch served to them by their teachers and a celebratory assembly reflecting on their time at Deer Park. They have been an outstanding year group and we predict success come Results Day. We wish them all the very best of luck and look forward to welcoming them back on Results Day (Thursday 25th August) and later in the year for their Celebration of Achievement assembly, when certificates will be issued.
Year 7 and Year 8 are taking part in Readathon, the UK's biggest national sponsored reading event that helps children develop a life-long love of reading for pleasure. Readathon works like any other sponsored event in that the children read books in exchanges for pledges of money.
Following the excitement of the royal wedding and the serious implications of the national referendum on voting reform, all pupils have been taking part in a great debate about the future of the monarchy in the United Kingdom.

The period since Christmas has been a particularly busy one for pupils and staff and as a community we have achieved a lot. We have made a seamless transition to academy status and our pupils have participated enthusiastically in a range of activities which have raised their awareness and understanding of issues affecting others and themselves. These include their sensitive and perceptive responses to our reflective 'thought for the week', engagement in charity fund raising which since September has raised over £4000 for good causes, and participation in our creative standstill days.
It has been a very busy term and sport has been a key factor in both the Inclusion Centre and Pupil Services.
Cirencester Deer Park School will convert to Academy status on Friday 1 April. However, we wish to reassure pupils, parents and our partners in the community that this will be a seamless transition. We will remain Cirencester Deer Park School. We will continue to provide access to free comprehensive education to young people between the ages of 11-16 in Cirencester and the areas around the town.
It’s the ICT and Business Faculty in Focus week. To celebrate this wondrous event we have put together NETQUEST - a series of web-based riddles and puzzles that will test members of the Cirencester Deer Park School community to the limit!
