On Tuesday 28 September pupils in Years 9 and 10 put on a Shakespeare play in a day and performed it to parents and friends in the evening.
Reflecting the school’s Arts and Applied Learning specialisms, the programme was truly cross-curricular and brought together practitioners in English and Expressive Arts. Actors from Shakespeare4Kidz in conjunction with The Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, led the workshops throughout the day and were supported by Vito Anzalone, the school’s Drama Co-ordinator, Zoe Harrod, English Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator, and trainee, Ushma Mistry.
Pupils and staff welcomed prospective pupils and their parents to Deer Park on the school's two Open Mornings on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 September. The school extends a further welcome to prospective pupils and their parents at their Open Evening on Wednesday 29 September from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with a formal presentation in the Main Hall at 7.45pm.

On Tuesday 14th September the fiction section in ‘The Powell’s Learning Centre’ at Cirencester Deer Park School came alive with characters from the novels and short stories of Roald Dahl as pupils in Year 7 were invited to participate in a range of creative challenges.

Year 10 pupils from Cirencester Deer Park School , along with the Mayor of Cirencester and the Chief Executive Officer for Cirencester Town Council, travelled to Saint Genis Laval, in Lyon, to be part of the largest dance festival in Europe.

Pupils at Deer Park find the pace of learning exciting. Tasks are relevant and creative. ‘Teachers often made what was to be learnt very clear and presented a sequence of increasingly challenging activities, punctuated by opportunities for reflection and consolidation’ (Ofsted 2010). Within the first week of the new term, our pupils have had opportunities to extend their learning and demonstrate their resilience, resourcefulness and ability to work collaboratively.

Cirencester Deer Park School is a Specialist School for Technology, the Arts and Applied Learning, and was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ following our Ofsted Inspection in May 2010. Following the successful launch in November 2009, we are delighted to again be able to offer a range of seven after school activities for pupils in Years 5 and 6 at Primary School, running over 5 weeks in Term 1 starting during the week commencing Monday 20 September 2010.
