Cirencester Deer Park School is running The Deer Park Apprentice for Year 10 pupils from September to December 2010. We are starting the hunt for the first Apprentice now. We are looking for someone ‘drop dead enterprising’. Someone with flair and real potential to be a leader. Someone with a wide range of skills. Someone creative, motivated and forward thinking.
As a Training School, Cirencester Deer Park has links to the universities of Gloucestershire, Bath, Bath Spa and Bristol and we tend to have more trainee teachers on placement than most schools. This extra staffing not only enables us to have two adults in many classrooms but means that we can do things we would not normally be able to do. On Monday 14 June our team of trainee teachers hosted a Primary Challenge Day for more than 50 pupils who will be joining the school in September.
With the busy exams season nearly over, our Y11 Leavers are busy preparing for the Leavers’ Ball on Friday July 2nd.
The glitz and glamour begins with arrivals from 7pm. This years leavers’ are looking to surpass the excellence of previous years with pupils already vying to outclass each other with the coolest, sleekest and funkiest modes of transport. With stunning outfits already purchased, everyone is looking forward to letting their hair down and celebrating in style after the intense work of the past few terms.
What a month to have a Faculty in Focus! Although sport is constantly on the television, the next month is extra special... No-one can fail to have noticed the Football FIFA World Cup (11 June - 11 July 2010) on the television. Already there have been some amazing games displaying team passion and amazing talent. Even if the football does not interest you, you can brush up on the rules of the game, the geography of the countries, or learn to identify the flags from participating countries. Can you name all 32 countries taking part and pin point them on a map of the world?
Expressive Arts 'Summer Showcase' Wednesday 30th June at 7pm in the Main Hall. Tickets, which include refreshments, from Reception £3.50 adults £2.80 consessions. There's no World Cup football that night, so come along!
While pupils had an extra day’s holiday, staff at Deer Park returned to work after the May break, on Monday 7 June for in-service training. The focus for the day was on our new curriculum and getting everything ready for our ‘new’ school year which began on Tuesday 8 June. Pupils recently told the team of Ofsted Inspectors that ‘the skill and commitment of teachers’ was ‘a major factor in their success’.
Cirencester Deer Park School: ‘Outstanding’, Ofsted May 2010. From the initial feedback, the school understood the team of inspectors left with a very favourable impression of the school and were delighted to receive the inspection report which acknowledges, ‘Cirencester Deer Park School is an outstanding school.’

On Thursday 20 May pupils in our Year 11 joined us for their Leavers’ Assembly after their complimentary lunch served by members of staff and the all important shirt signing!
The School Governing Body has vacancies for two Partnership Governors. The four-year term of office would start from 1 September 2010. Partnership Governors are members of the community served by the school who are committed to the good government and success of the school.
