Congratulations go to all of our pupils in the ‘Class of 2010’ who achieved the school’s best ever examination results this summer and a big thank you to all members of our staff team who have worked consistently hard to build our pupils’ learning power, challenge and support them over the five years they have been with us.
The principle of guided choice and the comprehensive range of courses we have on offer has ensured our pupils’ needs have been matched by appropriate pathways. These, the pupils' own commitment and the quality of teaching they have received have led to their success. They have seized the opportunities for enrichment and applied learning at all levels.
This year pupils in Year 11 achieved:
We were especially pleased to be able to congratulate individual pupils on their superb results as they came into school to collect them and to wish them every success as they move on to the next stage in their learning. Significantly, over 20 pupils achieved 9 or more A*/A grades with some securing as many as 13, and 22 pupils secured the new Distinction* in our Business, Art and Performing Arts BTECs.
We are very proud of the fact that 50% of the whole year group leave school with 10 or more A*-C grades. We look forward to sharing their success with them and their parents further on Thursday 11 November at our Key Stage 4 Celebration of Achievement.
Pupils in Year 11 were not alone in receiving their results. Some pupils in Year 10 received their GCSE results in our ‘early entries’ and secured excellent outcomes in Statistics and French, and two of our pupils, with English as an additional language, achieved A* and A in Chinese and Polish respectively. For the third year, 39 pupils in Year 9 achieved really positive results in their GCSE Short Course in Design, 49% securing A*or A grades!’
We look forward to re-opening next Thursday, and seeing our new candidates make equally good progress in 2011!
