Festive Events

With the start of December, we can mention that word... Christmas!

christmas Craft Club

During the last six weeks Mrs Hannis, Senior Year Leader for Year 7, has been running an after school Christmas Craft Club for all pupils. We have been busy in our library, the PLC, making pom pom hats, decorated baubles, glittery decorated pine cones and gorgeous scented lavender bags.

Great fun has been had by all, lots of chat, many laughs, and some gorgeous glittery items have been handmade. One member of staff was heard commenting "You can never have too much glitter!"

Pupils said "I like making different stuff", "It was fun", "The Christmas trees were really good" and "I liked making the pom pom hats".

Christmas Carol Service

We would like to invite you to our annual Christmas Carol Service on Tuesday 12 December 2017 in St John the Baptist Church, adjacent to the Market Place in Cirencester. The event starts at 7pm and will finish at approximately 8.30pm. The service will include the singing of traditional carols and themed readings as well as musical items from the School choirs, DP Players Ensemble, the Guitar Group, the Flute Ensemble, the Legally Blonde Jr cast and other musical items, including our Year 7 group song.

All pupils are practising for their performances and we have our fingers crossed that the numbers participating in this year's Year 7 song will be the biggest yet! It is a great opportunity for pupils to work on their performance skills, whilst getting involved in a school community event.

There will be another Legally Blonde Jr reveal at the Christmas Carol service as we add a Christmas twist to one of the songs from the show! Legally Blonde Jr will be on stage in February 2018 but you can read about our Legally Blonde Jr Taster Evening in November.

We hope that you are able to come along to this special annual evening on Tuesday 12 December in the beautiful setting of the Parish Church; it is a lovely way to get into the Christmas groove.

Christmas Lunch

On the penultimate day of term, Thursday 14 December 2017, we will be serving Christmas Lunch to staff and  pupils.

Whether your child likes traditional turkey with all the trimmings or would prefer a vegetarian option, we invite all members of the school community to join us in the Main Hall for a festive meal. Gluten free options are available.

Christmas Lunch will cost £2.25 with mince pie or £2.70 with Christmas pudding.

CHRISTmas Jumper Day

On Thursday 14 December, also the day of our Christmas Lunch (see above), we are holding our third Christmas Jumper Day, when pupils and staff alike are able to jazz up their normal school attire for the day by wearing a Christmas jumper. At this time of year, when we all think of family, friends and those less fortunate than ourselves, we will be collecting food items for the Cirencester Foodbank as well as raising money for Save the Children with a 50p Christmas Jumper Day ticket.

This is not a whole non uniform day, Christmas Jumper Day only applies to the jumper, not the whole uniform, and participants can wear a shop-bought Christmas jumper or bling up a plain one - not a uniform jumper obviously! There are plenty of sites online with creative and festive ideas.

As you may have heard or read about recently, this year may be particularly hard for families on Universal Credit, so we want to help if we can by donating items to the foodbank. Find out which items they urgently need.

Kindness Calendar

Have you seen the Action for Happiness 'Kindness Calendar' for December 2017? It is filled with simple acts of kindness that we could all try. Their patron is the Dalai Lama.
